A sustainable alternative to burial and cremation
At eterrna, we believe in a more beautiful way to say goodbye. One that honours the deceased, supports the bereaved and gives back to the earth. We are here to lead a quiet revolution in end of life care in the UK - grounded in nature, empathy and respect.
Rooted in compassion and experience
Eterrna was founded by Kristoffer Hughes and Chris Cooper-Hayes. They recognised the need for an alternative to traditional end of life care, one that took better care of the planet, and provided greater time and space for loved ones to heal from their loss.
While filming a documentary in Seattle, Kristoffer experienced first hand the benefits of terramation, also known as human composting. Impressed by what he saw, he was determined to see this process adopted in the UK and teamed up with Chris to help make terramation the natural choice for funerals in the UK.
